A NEW $150,000 tourism campaign is designed to lure Australians to the Whitsundays.
The Tourism Queensland led national campaign will include fantastic deals such as stay three nights at five star resorts and pay for two from as little as $269.
The ‘Escape to the Whitsundays’ campaign is on sale nationally from March 1 to April 18.
Tourism Whitsundays chief executive officer Peter O’Reilly said he was excited to see the launch of another national campaign promoting the Whitsundays.
“We have just finished a campaign with Jetstar Holidays in the southern states, and this campaign will keep the Whitsundays at the top of traveller’s minds,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“The interest in the Whitsundays following the success of the Best Job in the World has remained high, and we have a number of campaigns planned this year to turn that interest into bookings.
“The Escape to the Whitsundays campaign will offer a good mix of 3 to 5 star island and mainland accommodation, tours and sailing activities, really showcasing what our region has to offer.”
Whitsunday MP Jan Jarratt said the campaign would encourage people to visit the Whitsundays for their mid-year getaway.
“This campaign is all about increasing the visibility and presence of the Whitsundays as the perfect Australian holiday destination, and in turn aims to encourage people to want to visit,” she said.
“Best of all, thanks to Tourism Queensland’s considerable market buying power, the campaign was free for local operators to participate in.”
